A Ceremony Fit For A King

With the sounds of bagpipes and qeej in the air, thousands of mourners came from all of corners of the world to Fresno, California to pay their final respects at the funeral of General Vang Pao. The General passed away due to a bout of pneumonia on January 6, 2011 at Clovis Hospital, at the age of 81. It was then that the world’s Hmong community began preparations to send off one of their greatest leaders in the proper and traditional cultural manner, in what would be the biggest funeral in the history of the Hmong.
